Helen is a mezzo-soprano from Bedfordshire. She completed her Masters in Vocal Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, supported by the Linda Pilgrim Scholarship. Here she studied under the tutelage of vocal professor Alison Wells and vocal coach Robert Bottriel. Prior to this Helen studied Music at the University of Southampton where she held a choral scholarship with ’Cantores Michaelis’.
Helen qualified as a music teacher in 2012 and worked as a secondary school teacher for three years whilst pursuing her performing ambitions. As part of mezzo and soprano duo EnChant, Helen performed sell out concerts in venues in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Surrey. Helen has been a regular performer in her local community and now sings as a professional member of the Philharmonia Chorus, as a recitalist and as an oratorio soloist. Other performing highlights include Masterclasses with Dame Felicity Palmer, Janice Chapman and Greg Eldridge. She also enjoyed working with renowned accompanist Eugene Asti to perform Schumann Lieder in his 'Schumann and Poulenc Song Cycles' concerts. Helen now studies under the tutelage of GHSMD professor Theresa Goble. Helen's operatic experience includes the roles of Goffredo in Handel’s Rinaldo, La Nourrice in Ariane by Dukas, Nerone in Monterverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea and Olga in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin as part of Trinity Laban's opera scenes. In April 2016 Helen was invited to perform in an immersive new opera production at Peckham Asylum as Mrs Nolan in Clockwork Opera’s inaugural performance of The Medium. Helen has also performed in new operas including the role of Mary Braund in Trinity Laban’s premier of Banished by Stephen McNeff and the role of 'Reporter' in the premiere of Favela by Louise Kulbicki. In the summer of 2018 Helen toured with Opera Loki in France performing the role of Larina in their production of Eugene Onegin followed by performances in Covent Garden, London and Alton, Hampshire. This summer Helen performed in Il Trovatore, Die Zauberfloete and Alfonso und Estrella in France with Opera de Bauge. Other recent soloist highlights include performing as the alto soloist for Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle with Potters Bar Choral Society and Haydn's Nelson Mass and Rheinberger's Mass with Ampthill Choral Society. Helen is also the returning alto soloist for the Bedford Messiah Choir.
